Utrecht. Jan Stijlaart, only 12 years and old started as an apprentice at a bronze foundry in Utrecht. He immediately developed a predilection for the material: powerful and solid, yet flexible. Above all, he was gripped by the power of art. Because of all the unique stories that he exposed with his hands.

He poured this passion into his own company

More than 60 years later, the world looks very different. Jan passed the baton and penchant for the craft to his son Jos and grandson Johan. They now run the company with the same passion as (grand)father Jan. They don’t do this alone: nowadays Flassh consists of a club of 11 men. Despite their different personalities and backgrounds, they have one thing in common, the passion for the profession.

This passion is the common thread of Flassh: “It connects us as a team and with the artists we work for. It makes us very strong. Actually, just like bronze: powerful and solid, yet flexible.”
